Summaries

Chief John Nisheto is drafted into the U.S. Army during World War I. While fighting in France, he saves the life of Jack Burr, the son of a congressman sympathetic to Native Americans. After the war, John becomes romantically involved with Jack's sister, Agnes. Although John is both a scholar and a star football player, Jack objects, not knowing that John is the man who once saved his life. John is later mortally wounded and dies in Jack's arms, revealing at last his own heroism in the trenches. Jack repents of his prejudice and does his best to comfort his sister.—AFI
