Summaries

Rapline was a musical show, presented by Olivier Cachin, exclusively devoted to rap, dancehall and other alternative music. This cult show, broadcast between 1990 and 1993, remains to this day the only television show of its type in this format in France. All facets of these emerging movements in France were explored through interviews, live events and clips made especially for the show by directors like Jean-François Montmirel, François Bergeron, Sylvain Bergère and Roland Allard (filming Rap Line sequence ). This then filled the scarcity of French rap clips in particular. Around fifty clips were produced by Rapline. Another famous sequence of the show consisted of broadcasting US rap clips subtitled in French (VO/VF sequence).—M6
