Synopsis

It's the year 2009. Criminals and con men abound in the city of Ranchi, preying on innocent filmmakers. Disguising themselves as officials from the Railway Ministry, they offer fictitious documentary projects in exchange of a lump sum bribe.

Deepak, the main protagonist, is a struggling Bangalore-based filmmaker who lands the Railway project by chance. However, his filmmaker-friend, warns him against proceeding with it. He reveals details of an incident involving a famous female filmmaker who fell into a similar trap and was looted by a gang.

The revelation initiates the core plot of Ranchi. Deepak resolves to apprehend the criminals and bring their deception to light. He connects with Pravin Kumar, the SSP of Ranchi. The SSP hears out Deepak's story and together, they hatch a plan to nab the gang red-handed. They form a small team, and disguise themselves as farmers and Deepak's team. Ensuing the risky battlebetween the criminal gang and the police team, the gang leader, Bhalva Shankar gets killed.

Deepak returns to Bangalore, unaware that he's being followed by the rest of the gang to avenge Bhalva's death. Deepak and Shridhar face an unexpected attack in the city, that SSP Pravin traces back to the gang. He requests ACP Roshni, one of his former trainees, to oversee the operation in Bangalore.Deepak devises a plot worthy of a movie script to entice the goons to a film set, and gets them apprehended in style. He wins accolades for his script, and the goons are put behind bars. Deepak acknowledges the pivotal role of SSP Pravin Kumar in facilitating the capture of the criminals. Thus justice is served.

NB: This film is based on actual events from a true story. The main protagonist, Deepak, is the on-screen portrayal of Shashikanth Gatti, the Writer/Director of Ranchi. We dedicate the film to SSP Pravin Kumar, who played a crucial role during the Ranchi incident. He passed away of natural causes, while still in service as the IG-STF.
