The main plot revolves around a group of women who are in flesh trade, lives in one House (brothel) headed by Begum Jaan (Rituparna). Begum Jaan who is a fierce & head strong, takes care of the well being of all inmates with no remorse. She strongly believes that men cannot be trusted or dependable. The inmates of brothel have their stories of atrocities which led them in the house & business (including Begum Jaan). In the backdrop story covers- good friends of different religion parting ways due the inhuman communal riots, people were affected/displaced by the close doors decisions taken by political bureaucrats; country is parted, border line mapped & assets (including human lives) were divided. Story takes a dramatic turn when the borderline happens to be passing through the House. The country which never existed for the housemates, only existed were the customers from all religions/professions now takes a decision of Begum Jaan's territory. She was asked to vacate the house which she refuses & challenges everyone asking her to do so. For government it was just a job to be done, which the just wanted to be completed. The house was attacked and the ladies gives returns back with all guns blazing. The point which the movie don't fail to make was: women lives are tormented in the hands of men and then they fight back with all Tooth & nails, without leaving their inner humility.—Rubal Das
