Krisztinka Oltay, disguised as a gypsy woman, spies, plots and arranges to help Prince Rákóczi and free his lover, Péter Szakmáry, who has been captured by his brother, who is loyal to the Emperor, and is to be executed in Kassa with the other kuruc men. Krisztinka inspires the tired kuruc troops with a song, Rákóczi's Song, to take Kassa and free the prisoners.
