The documentary series "The Road to the World Champions" witnesses the birth of the famous Yugoslav school of basketball. From the war days of 1942, when its founders Nebojsa Popovic, Bora Stankovic, Radomir Saper and Aleksandar Nikolic met on improvised basketball courts, to the World Cup in Ljubljana in 1970, when their youthful dream was fulfilled... In a country that constantly sailing between East and West, basketball emerged above all existing ideas, uniting enthusiasts throughout the former state. A game was born that could not be found in textbooks, in which imagination had the last word over tactics. In the decisive match in the "Tivoli" hall in 1970, the USA was defeated, and the audience, in a trance, said to the Americans, who had gone to the moon a year earlier: "The moon is yours, the gold is ours".
