An undercover police officer falls for the beautiful moll of a bank robber on the run and together they plan to double-cross both the hood and the cops.
A bank heist yields $210,000. Soon, sultry Lona McLane, girlfriend of one of the robbers, meets Paul Sheridan and has a torrid affair. When she finds out Paul's a cop, to save herself she sets out to corrupt him. He's a pushover. But it won't be easy for Paul to get his hands on the money when he's part of a complex, peeping-tom stakeout. Paul Sheridan and Lona McLane have just met each other in having spotted each other as singles in a movie theater, and he afterward helping her with her stalled car, with there being immediate romantic sparks between them. Their meeting, however, was not by chance as it is part of a larger around-the-clock surveillance Paul, as an LAPD undercover detective, and his team are doing on her in she being the known moll of bank robber Harry Wheeler. That surveillance includes the team watching her from another apartment across the courtyard from hers. Wheeler is a wanted man not only for the $200,000 from the last robbery, but he having killed a security guard in that job. The LAPD is certain that Wheeler will eventually contact her, its goal to capture him alive as it doesn't know who his associates on that job were. With an undeniable attraction between them, Sheridan and McLane have to decide what to do when she comes clean to him that she has figured out that he's a cop. They decide to abscond with the $200,000 together when Wheeler contacts her. Complications ensue with among other items Rick McAllister, another member of the surveillance team, admitting to Sheridan his attraction to McLane's next door neighbor, nurse Ann Stewart.—Huggo
