The journey of a Sicilian carter through time and the most iconic places in Sicily, to discover the revenge and social redemption of a marginalized people.
A Sicilian Carter makes a journey - through time - among the countryside, the cities and the villages of the island, while observing four different stories, set in different eras, he tells them while singing a popular song; they are stories whose protagonists live in situations of oppression and violence, against which they decide to rebel. A story - U Lupunaru - tells of a mother and the lycanthropy disease that afflicts her son and his descendants, between Acitrezza and Catania. Another - U Chianchieri - sees a butcher rebel against his extortionists. A third - Il Silenzio del mezzogiorno - takes place in the late nineteenth century, during the period of the "campieri", the first Sicilian mafia, to which two brothers decide to report their murders. Breaking the entire country's wall of silence. A fourth and last - Borgo - instead has as its protagonist a car rental driver, blackmailed by a mafia and forced to embark on a journey in the Sicilian hinterland - to carry out a criminal mission - together with an old colleague. In the finale, the carter meets his best friend: a Sicilian cart painter. Who is drawing, right on his cart, drawings that represent four iconic scenes of the four stories that until now the carter had told only with singing. The painter, feeling the presence of his friend, is distracted from the painting and turns towards him, but he disappears. Leaving only the memory and the echo of his stories, to keep the painter company, who will treasure the stories of his friend, to imprint them forever through his art.
