Rustlers using modern technology (airplanes, shortwave radios, refrigerated trucks) are Gene's target.
Shannon is running a modern rustling operation using an airplane to spot the cattle, short wave radio to alert the rustlers, and trucks to haul away the beef. When the aging Sheriff Doniphan is unable to bring them in, he is replaced by an eastern detective. But Doniphan's deputy Gene suspects Shannon and sets a trap to nab him and his gang.—Maurice VanAuken <[email protected]>
As the deputy of the aging Sheriff Matt Doniphon (William Farnum_, Gene Autry (Gene Autry) believes in the old-fashioned method of catching modern-day cattle rustlers-on-wheels who use an airplane spotter to spot unguarded range cattle and carry off their raids using refrigerator trucks. The rustling causes a crisis among the ranchers and townspeople and they demand that Sheriff Doniphon retire while they bring in a progressive detective from back east. Gene suspects Jack Shannon (Arthur Loft), the owner of the local meat-packing company is the brains behind the raid.—Les Adams <[email protected]>
