Four actresses of the provincial theater - Garanina, Shchipalina, Rudakova and Dontsova - are going on tour to Moscow in one compartment. All of them are connected by love for one person - the director and the head of this theater. The truth is that for someone everything is in the past, and for someone in the present. And the oldest one knows his main secret: why a young, promising director had to leave the capital many years ago and go to the province. And so fate gives them a chance to get recognition, to start a new life: touring in Moscow.
