Summaries

At once a road-trip, detective story and zombie flick, Project Z tracks - behind the scenes and headlines - some of the most challenging global security issues of our times.

Beginning in the Mojave Desert at end of the Cold War and ending on Wall Street a decade after 9/11, Project Z examines emerging global security challenges through the prism of a zombie crisis. From climate change accelerated refugee flows to the effects of tightly-coupled financial systems and high-tech information-based warfare, Project Z presents a startling investigation into the most disruptive forces of the 21st century. The documentary combines rare footage of military war games with commentary by leading intellectuals and officials in the Department of Defense. Project Z is an experimental collaboration by James Der Derian (Human Terrain, After 9/11, VY2K), Phillip Gara (The Costs of War, Virtuous War 2.0, Disastrous Horizons) and the Global Media Project (Watson Institute, Brown University).—Phillip Gara
