In a tale as timeless as it is haunting, Victoria, a resilient professional New Yorker in her forties, who holds down several jobs including voice over artist, tango teacher and host of her own talk show she live-streams, finds herself ensnared in the charm of a man who is not what he seems. Victoria, a transplant from the tiny European nation of Liechtenstein, feels drawn to the charisma of Max Bauer, an Olympic star she idolized in her youth. Max, his former glory fading in Europe, ventures to the boundless promise of America, and into the unsuspecting arms of Victoria in her modest New York studio apartment. Their romance blossoms instantly, a seemingly perfect union of dreams and desires. Yet, as Max's once sparkling veneer begins to crack, revealing a cruel and manipulative core, Victoria is drawn into the tumultuous drama of their uneven love affair. Exploiting her love and admiration, the fallen star manipulates and abuses her, utilizing his dwindling fame as a weapon of control and dominance. Naively, Victoria clings to the relationship, led by a heart that refuses to see the danger lurking beneath Max's charming facade. As a side plot, this is also a generational story with unresolved issues between mother and daughter. Victoria is upset at her mother, whom she thought was always weak and let her dad do to her anything he wanted to, yet the mother goes through her own development in this film which shows the conflict and eventual growth of mother and daughter. The story unfolds into a gripping and cautionary tale of love, delusion, and danger, reminding us that even the most seemingly perfect princes can harbor a darkness that could put one's life at risk.
