Summaries

This is a film poem in four parts. It represents the first four days after Algeria's declaration of independence in 1962. The film crew has been working in the country for three months. It documents the time from the end of the war to the signing of official documents. Footage was taken from the Algerian National Liberation Army. There are episodes of refugees exiled to the mountains of Morocco and Tunisia. Ordinary people from towns and villages, from Muslim and European Algeria are represented. These shots alternate with shots of the celebration of the National Day.—Georgi Djulgerov
