The world traveler Prepsl was hospitalized as a bacillary carrier of the dangerous disease typhoid fever. He is a peculiar man who has travelled the world and can also talk engagingly about his experiences. At first he refuses to stay in the hospital, but the primary explains the situation to him and Prepsl complies. He begins to get comfortable with his new surroundings and with the other patients. He gets on most well with old Bartunek, who speaks fondly of his children, but they refuse to care for their father. Prepsl's stay in the hospital and the people he meets there lead him to a decision that will change his life so far significantly.—RTVS
