This expensive historical film depicts exploits of the 17th-C. Maratha emperor Shivaji. The film tells the legendary episode, of Mughal emperor Aurangazeb's (Sahasrabuddhe) attack on the city of Pune (then called Poona) and of how Shivaji (Ketkar) repelled it.—Sujit R. Varma
