Poltergeist Encounters is a found-footage horror film, set in an empty suburban home, filled with dark secrets.
A questionable group of paranormal investigators with their own web series receive the offer of a lifetime: stay one night in a potentially haunted house for a large sum of money. What could possibly go wrong? It seems like easy money to Anton, team leader of the group, and privately, an unbeliever in the supernatural. Mick, Roach and Terrance are all investigators that take the entire situation far too lightly at first, before everything they believe changes. On that fateful night, they learn that it's all fun and games until things get real.
A group of paranormal investigators consisting of Anton Crawley, Mick Vinkum, Roach, and Terrance McKenan, famous for their show "Poltergeist Encounters", are offered $50,000 each by a woman named Heather to spend a night in a house that formerly belonged to her family where a murder-suicide took place. The group accepts the deal, and sets up in the house, with Mick noticing an expensive ring inside. However, things go awry when Anton, and Mick find what appears to be Roach's unconscious body before finding her with Terrance in another section of the house. As a result, the group decides to stick together for the rest of the night. They head into the basement, where, after the group begins to experience paranormal phenomena, Roach runs off; the group follows her, but find her dead body on the floor upstairs.
Terrance briefly appears to be possessed by a ghost before passing out. He then attacks Mick in a possessed state, forcing Mick to kill him. Mick opts to leave the house, although Anton pulls a gun on him, and forces him to stay in the house until morning to collect the money. The two sit down in the kitchen, and eventually fall asleep. However, Mick wakes up possessed, and attacks Anton, forcing him to kill him. A panicked Anton continues to reside in the kitchen, and falls asleep again, eventually waking up the next morning, and escaping the house while taking the ring.
Anton shows the footage of the night's events to the police, but they believe it to all be staged, and Anton instead insists that the other three left the house on their own, which they accept. However, all three of them have disappeared, causing an investigation, while the media passes off the entire story as a publicity stunt. Anton receives his $50,000 from Heather, and goes on a Royal Caribbean Cruise near the Bermuda Triangle. Anton talks to the camera about his accomplishments, although as he's showing off the ring, he seemingly vanishes from thin air, leaving only the ring behind, which text reveals also went missing during a police investigation.
