A desperate city-slicker engineer cheats his way into a small farming community, pretending to know how to save them by refinancing their slaughterhouse not knowing that he's walking into a local war of small-town politics and general misbehaving.—Anonymous
Lárus is an engineer with a somewhat miserable home life. His wife has been sleeping with his boss, and confronting him on the matter has gotten him fired. His dying father, who is friends with the Mayor of Búðardalur, wants him to go to that very town and restart the slaughterhouse and re-ignite the farming community. Lárus doesn't know what he's doing, but when he gets to Búðardalur, that's the least of his problems. He's soon caught up in a dangerous political game between the Mayor and the people from Nordlenska, particularly Elín, who wants to undermine the Mayor's power.—Tamsin Parker
