Decayed medieval zombies use bizarre torture devices to take bloody revenge

Paranormal investigators enter an uncharted forest in central Europe in order to investigate a medieval legend concerning a group of plague carriers who were driven into the woods to perish. There is a rumor that some kind of treasure was buried in the forest, and also that these people were part of a devil-worshiping cult who regularly performed sacrifices and who vowed to return from the dead many centuries hence in order to avenge themselves upon the living. According to some reports, the date of their supposed resurrection coincides with the day the investigators enter the forest. Unaccountably, soon after their arrival, all of the investigators' equipment goes wrong and they find themselves split up into groups of three, none able to communicate with the others. It is at this point that the forest's atmosphere becomes menacing and the most psychic members of the team fear that there may be truth in the old legend after all .—Peter Thorndike
