A poor couple sends their son to Athens to study. But when he gets his degree he can not find a job.

Like a fish out of water, Andreas--the son of an impecunious couple of farmers in the island of Mytilene, Greece--arrives in faceless, unemployment-ridden, mid-1980s Athens. Having graduated recently from a costly private technical school, Andreas will soon have to face the long and challenging experience of job-hunting, only to end up with the door slamming sickeningly in his face. As problems start piling up, desperate Andreas tries to dig his way out of debt, fighting a losing battle against the cruel reality and the harrowing prospect of defeat. Now, Andreas will have to swallow his pride to survive. What good is a hard-earned diploma when you can't pay your bills?—Nick Riganas
