In November of 1942, the French submarine, the "Casabianca,", escapes from German-held Toulon, and, upon joining the Free French forces at Algiers, is sent on a secret mission to Corsica to take two secret-service agents to make contact with the underground there. The agents contact the Marquis resistance forces, and learn they are ready to revolt but lack the needed arms and ammunition. The submarine is sent back to Corscia with the necessary weapons for the resistance-fighters, and also returns with trained troops to assist the resistance forces in attacking the Germans.—Les Adams <[email protected]>

On November 27th 1942,the French submarine "Casabianca", under the command of her daring captain Commandant Jean Lherminier, manages to evade the Germans' eye and to escape from Toulon harbor. The film describes life on board, the dangers gone through in common by the valiant crew as well as the struggles of Corsican patriots. "Casabianca" closes on September 9th 1943 with the arrival of the rebellious submarine in Ajaccio where she lands a battalion of freedom fighters all the way from Algiers, announcing the liberation of the country.—Guy Bellinger
