Nezu no Hamakichi used to be a renowned detective. He had lost his job and been banished from Edo after he was arrested for some reasons. Back in Edo for the first time in 5 years, he has just sold toys. This is a story that Hamakichi resolves difficult incidents.
Itachi Hamakichi was once of the top criminal investigators in Edo. However, when he accepted money to allow a criminal to escape (in order to save his sick wife), he was degraded, expelled from the Constabulary and banished from Edo. Five years later, he has returned to Edo. Now, using the name "Nezu Hamakichi", he seeks to rebuild his life, earning a living as a maker/seller of pinwheels while at the same time hoping to one day find his missing daughter.
