The adventures of Phungus a yellow alien from a xenophobic planet, Mowld a human always on some shady "mission", and ALIS, their hacked imperial robot in a spaceship with a Framistan Drive considered extremely unstable and unreliable.

Phungus, an anxious little alien, runs his tiny bar in peace and quiet, dreaming of becoming a respected barkeeper, when hired gun Mowld crashes his escape pod in front of him, on the run for allegedly shooting the Emperor. Phungus calls the Ultraviolet Guard, everything goes wrong, Phungus' bar is destroyed, and both have to flee the premises. After Phungus' ship gets badly damaged, Mowld buys him a decrepit second-hand ship as replacement, featuring an experimental Framistan drive for instant travel anywhere. The engine turns out to have reality altering capabilities, and the two decide to keep it a secret. From this day onward, Mowld repeatedly drags Phungus into his shady "missions", because he needs Phungus' ship to complete them. Business owners, governments, crazy scientists and others will try to get their hands on the Framistan technology, but thanks to Mowld's recklessness, Phungus' genius and their robot's bewildering enthusiasm, they always manage to get away by a hair's breadth.
