Summaries

This is the account of the first expedition to paddle the entire 4000+ miles of the Amazon River from its most distant source high in the Peruvian Andes to the Atlantic Ocean in Brazil. Prior to 2012, the source of the world's longest river was believed to be in southern Peru. A new source was discovered, making the Amazon River about 80 miles longer than the Nile River. This international multi-generational team of explorers ran 500 miles of uncharted white water before hitting the final 3800 mile push to the ocean. Along the way, they were fired upon, held at gunpoint 5 times, dealt with hostile natives and friendly narcotraffickers, robbed by pirates, beaten by massive waves and tidal surges and dealt with team conflicts and illness all within the 111 day expedition.

A documentary about the first expedition to paddle from the most distant source of the Amazon River 4200 miles to the Atlantic Ocean in Brasil. At an elevation over 14,000 feet high in the frozen Peruvian Andes mountains, this newly discovered source of the world's largest river has made the Amazon River longer than the Nile River. With an international team of young white water experts and not-so-young ultra-distance kayakers, this story is rife with everything you need in a modern day adventure: narcotraffickers, armed jungle tribes, interpersonal fights, dangerous never-before-filmed white water, disease, cheap rum, river pirates and massive waves. Throughout the bribes, threats to our lives and daily pitfalls, the team persevered through snow, lightning and blinding rain to the ocean.
