On behalf of the Dutch government a secret agent is looking for a journalist who suddenly disappeared in Suriname. He must make their way in a country paralyzed by demonstrations and protests against the military government.
The infamous December murders in Surinam in the early eighties form the starting point for this political thriller. The film, mostly recorded in Suriname, is told by secret agent Robert Lipmann, who is looking for the missing journalist Kevin Poelgeest on behalf of the Dutch government. Suriname is tormented by a violent unrest under the military regime of commander Raymond Markelo, who opposes the opposition with a hard hand. During Lipmann's search he meets Elvira, the sister of Kevin, who has a relationship with the commander. Like Lipmann, she is convinced that Kevin's alleged death has to do with a settlement in the drug circuit. Then important evidence emerges. Ignorant, they head for the tragic events of 8 December 1982.
