Two detectives, Ellie and Gedeon, are tasked with investigating a dead body in the Alps. As they dig deeper, they uncover shocking clues connected to pagan rituals and local customs.

The two investigators, Ellie Stocker and Gedeon Winter, have become bitter enemies. Gedeon's rehabilitation in the service and his resulting promotion make it difficult for Ellie to hold her colleague accountable for stealing a piece of evidence in the murder case of her colleague Jela Antic. That is, until a series of brutal murders rattles the German-Austrian borderlands. The convening of a cross-border Soko offers Ellie the chance to obtain the critical evidence against Gedeon. A sadistic killer kidnaps a Bulgarian mobster, tortures him to death, and then leaves the victim's naked body on the border-line between Austria and Germany. The Austrian police detective Gedeon Winter and the German police detective Ellie Stocker are separately tasked with the case. The same killer soon murders a famous but corrupt businessman in his own residence. The victim's Spanish mistress is later discovered alive, but seriously injured and apparently tortured. The Austrian and German authorities create a shared task force to investigate the serial murders.
