Over the course of the interview, we follow Charlie's adventures that led him to his current situation. After his a near fatal fall in the forest, he wanders off and meets an ex-convict turned religious zealot where Charlie suddenly discovers he can hear the man's thoughts. The ex-con mistakes Charlie for another "born again" and befriends Charlie while warning him of the normal-looking zombies camping out in the woods. The next morning, Charlie walks off into the forest and comes across a woman raging over her stalled car on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere. Charlie hears her innermost thoughts and tells them to her. Aghast and appalled yet seizing the opportunity, she introduces herself as a talent scout for the Reno Magic Talent Agency. After Charlie somehow magically starts the car, they're off to Reno to start a new career.
