Teppei, brought up by his father in the mountains, is an energetic boy who is as tough as weeds and acts as free as a bird. His life changes completely when he enrolls in high school, the first school he has ever attended. Despite his eccentric behavior and being a constant source of troubles, he is soon recognized for his talent in sports-especially in Kendo (the Japanese swordplay art)-and becomes the school's hero.—Nippon Animation
An adaptation of the manga series "I'm Teppei" (1973-1980) by Tetsuya Chiba. Teppei is a high-school aged boy who was raised in the relative isolation of a forest by his father, who works as a treasure hunter. When the duo is forced to rejoin their family in the city and Teppei enrolls in school, the boy is effectively illiterate. But Teppei demonstrates a particular talent for Kendo (a swordsmanship style), and starts a career in competitive sports. He at times changes schools and kendo clubs, but he is ready to face rivals with similar levels of skill and determination.—Dimos I
