Major Bagryshev's jealousy towards trainee Solomatin is fueled by Alzheimer's symptoms. They team up to solve a murder case resembling Bagryshev's past, but time is limited as the experienced investigator's memory fades.
Experienced Major Bagryshev jealously perceives the attachment of a young trainee Solomatin, thinking that his appearance will only bring his retirement closer. However, the first symptoms of Alzheimer's further aggravate his situation - Bagryshev understands that he will have to resign. Solomatin believes that the major is a real ace in operational search, and it is from him that he must learn to become a first-class police officer. Therefore, he invites the new boss to conclude an agreement: Bagryshev passes on all his experience and knowledge to him, and in return he becomes a kind of "RAM" for him, that is, he helps in every possible way and cleans up all his mistakes. Bagryshev agrees. On the very first day of working together, the partners discover corpses in the lake. The method of murder resembles the handwriting of the maniac whom Bagryshev shot during his arrest several years ago. The major and the trainee have to get to the bottom of this complicated case, but they don't have much time, because important "files" are erased from the head of the experienced investigator.
