After a New York press conference, crown prince James Galant and his mother queen-widow Gabriella of Galwick get stranded, with only body guard-driver Christopher, missing he plane unlike most of their retinue, in a New England small town. He's grumpy, having to spend the night at a remote inn, shown by nurse Anna, whose mother is its cook. The queen instantly enjoys reconnecting with her pre-royal youth. James slowly warms to small pleasures and especially Anna, who turns out to work on the Boston cardiac ward where the late king praised the staff.
