On a family trip gone wrong, betrothed sweethearts Ahaan and Ruhi find out that their parents were once embittered lovers and attempt to mend their past, only to confront the problems of their own present.

But as time passed, his mother's voice diminished, faith took abackseat and the realities of the real world became predominant as he is faced with howmediocre he can be in a world where 10,000 Ahaans have a better voice. His happiness begins todip drastically and the only thing that makes him smile is Ruhi. So, Ahaan decides to quit.He decides that routine life, a stable income and Ruhi - that is all he will live for.He decides to run - - nay - - go away to London for a 2 year course in Business Management. Hepromises his father to be of value once he is back and join him.His father, Kaushik, is unable to process his departure from his core but lacks the ability tocomfort his son.However, when Ruhi finds out, she calls him out on his bluff, labelling him a quitter. She worriesthat he'll drop her as easily as he has dropped the one thing he loved. In order to prove himself,Ahaan proposes marriage before he leaves for London. He is beyond thrilled at being her husbandand doesn't mind a long distance marriage. He convinces Ruhi that he just wants the best futurewith her as all his happiness comes from her. Ruhi believes this to be love, and agrees.Ahaan and Ruhi decide to take both their families for a weekend getaway after breaking the newsto them. While Ruhi's parents know and accept Ahaan, Ahaan's father has never met Ruhi.However, the bigger issue is - the parents have never met each other.Which is why, when Ruhi's mother Purnima and Ahaan's father Kaushik meet each other for thefirst time, the ground beneath them ceases to exist.It is then revealed that Kaushik and Purnima were lovers and that Purnima was going to run awaywith him at one point in her life.Ahaan and Ruhi are shellshocked. Ruhi asks Nipun to help her and Ahaan fix this and thus begins a journeywhere a husband tries to get his wife to befriend her ex.Over the course of awkward lunches, tense poker nights, drunken singing, costume photoshootsand wedding crashing, Kaushik and Purnima meet the changed version of each other. Ahaan andRuhi take a trip down memory lane with them into their flashbacks and it is revealed that theirrelationship suffered with the same disease - lack of self love. Kaushik had no ambitions in life,hated his home and all he could think of was marriage. He did not want to study, work or caredabout earning. All he wanted was Purnima and he would do anything for it.Purnima retracted from this kind of love as she knew better. She asks Ruhi if her relationship withAhaan is based on strength and not dependence.This leads Ruhi to question Ahaan's lack of faith, his need to run away, his view of marriage as asolution to his problems.She asks him to reconsider the marriage and they have a bitter falling out.They both question love and its meaning and both fail to understand it.Meanwhile, Kaushik and Purnima mend their past wounds and start a friendship while Nipun getsthe one thing he deserved - all his wife's heart.As the family comes back from the trip with bittersweet memories, Ahaan reconsiders Ruhi'swords and realises that Ruhi was his true love because even at their worst, she fought for hishappiness.He surrenders to her memories and sings one last song for her. This is the first time where she isntin the front row. However, the purity of his heart and voice, bring her back and true love reignsover uncertainty.
