The series tells the story of a young doctor, Jolanta Wadowska-Król, who notices that children living in the vicinity of the Szopienice Steelworks are suffering from lead syndrome, a disease caused by heavy metal poisoning. After her discovery, the heroine tries to save sick children and faces the oppressive, communist state apparatus.—G
