An animated adaptation of the long-running Japanese cooking manga series "Oishinbo" (1983-2014, "The Gourmet"). The main character is Shiro Yamaoka, a culinary journalist and food critic. He is an expert in his field, but he has a jaded view of life and few interests outside work. Shiro is the only son of a famous artist, but he deeply resents his father and his upbringing methods. Shiro's main partner and love interest is Yuko Kurita, a younger female journalist. She is less experienced than Shiro, but considerably more patient and optimistic than him.—Dimos I
