Synopsis

The film opens at Ben-Gurion Airport, where divorced and newly homeless Shaul (Gur Bentvich) is picking up his teenage daughter Libi (Elya Inbar), whose mother has decided she needs to go live with her father. It's the summer of 2006, and missiles are raining down on Israel's north.

Having nowhere to stay, they take a room in a hotel, where Shaul sees a PSA on TV that families out of missile range are offering to take in "refugees" from the north. Taking advantage of the situation, he arranges to stay with one such family and instructs Libi that they are posing as "refugees" from a ficticious northern community called Elkosh.

While being hosted, Shaul manages to interest Gidi (Tzahi Grad), his host, in investing in his invention, a portable cigarette smoke filter for use in closed spaces. Gidi convinces a reporter friend to do a piece on the gadget, called Smokeless, on site in shelters in the north.

Just as it looks as if things are turning a corner for Shaul, who wants to find a place to live and enroll Libi in school, he discovers Libi in bed with Gidi's 18yo son, gets angry, and leaves his hosts abruptly with Libi.

The film ends with Shaul and Libi falling asleep for the night in a car on a beach, facing the sea, Shaul reassuring Libi that he'll get a day job and they'll move into a place of their own.
