Two German soldiers stationed in the Channel Islands during World War 2 find themselves at odds over the eldest's affections for a local English girl. The village's residents, led by their steadfast minister, mount a resistance to the occupation with their secret radio network, mindful of their precarious situation whilst living alongside the enemy soldiers.
