A ten year old Jewish girl, Annemarie and her friend Ellen wonder about life before the war, their life is all about school, shortage of food and the Nazi soldiers storming the town. The Jews of Denmark are relocated and Ellen moves in with Annemarie's family. Annemarie then has to go on a dangerous mission to save Ellen.
