Floods threaten the Gelderland river area, but old Jacoba does not want to leave her home. Granddaughter Fleur tries to change her grandmother's thoughts.

Film about the despair of an old woman. A threatening flood leads to evacuation of the village where she lives. The woman knows how to keep herself hidden. In this way she waits for a dyke breakthrough, which has to end her life. But there is an unexpected disruption: her granddaughter. She comes to pick up her grandmother. A fight arises on life and death. The old woman struggles with ethical and religious questions, fights with herself, with nature and with higher powers. Thrown back and forth between duty and desire she makes a decision.
