Synopsis

Noor Roy Chaudhary (Sonakshi Sinha) is a clumsy journalist, who aspires to be "discovered" for serious journalism. She works for Shekhar (Manish Chaudhary), who once was a serious journalist, but got married and now chases his wife, Kids and TRPS with Sunny Leone interviews. Shekhar's wife Lavina's (Suchitra Pillai) dad is a big new agency owner and who has given this job to Shekhar as dowry. She yearns to cover important news stories but is often sent to cover entertainment pieces, such as interviewing adult actress Sunny Leone, which she resents. This causes frequent friction between herself and Shekhar.

Shekhar sends Noor to conduct the interview with Sunny, despite it being her 28th birthday and despite it being raining.Noor misses the Sunny Leone interview as she drops her car keys down the gutter in the basement parking and then has to take the train. Noor trudges through the pouring rain and somehow makes it to film city for her appointment with Sunny Leone. By the time she got there, Noor was soaking wet.

Zara Patel (Shibani Dandekar) is Noor's best friend and is very fashion conscious. Zara admonishes Noor for attracting negativity in her life with her attitude.

Saad (Kanan Gill) is Noor's childhood friend, who was born and brought up in London, but studied in Mumbai for a brief time (he was 12 when his dad died and his mom brought him to study in Mumbai, where he met Noor & Zara at school), with Noor & Zara. Saad owns a pub in London, which Noor feels is a front to pick hot girls.Noor is a big fan of Old Rum.

Sekhar is livid with Noor for not taking her interview with Sunny Leone seriously, as she yawned and sneezed several times. Sekhar says that Sunny is a self-made woman, and Noor has no right to judge her as she has done nothing with her own career. Noor is belligerent and says that she is a university topper and has a brain, and yet she is tasked to do fluff pieces ignoring the real problems of the city.Noor threatens Shekhar that she has an offer from CNN (Actually CNN shot her application down). She is fired from her job. Saab arrives in Mumbai.

Noor had dated Rahul (Nikhil Khurana) for a brief period, who was rich and was good looking and educated. Noor tried hard to get some action, but he was the "family" guy. Noor stuck with him as she could see herself getting used to the "good life". Rahul took Noor to meet his snooty mother, who instantly rejected her as she was not from a rich family and was not educated abroad like Rahul. That relationship went nowhere.

Noor meets Ayananka Banerjee (Purab Kohli) a CNN war photojournalist at a photo gallery and ends up making fun of his photos in front of him (without knowing they were his photos). She curses herself for blowing her chance, but then Ayan shows interest in her and asks her out on a date. Noor and Ayan hit it off from the beginning, and they fall in love. Ayan is 40 years old and has a salt and pepper look.Saad finds that Noor is dating Ayan and warns her saying that Ayan is a fake. Noor dismisses Saad's commentary as a fit of jealousy and doesn't give it much though.

Shekhar calls Noor back and hires her again. Shekhar asks her to cover a story on Dr Kapil Shinde, who is providing free treatment to the poor at his clinic. Noor objects that Shinde is funded by the Kapadia trust, which is controlled by Shekhar's father-in-law, who also controls the newspaper. But Shekhar brushes aside her concerns and says that this is a story about real people, just like Noor wanted.

While editing the interview on her personal computer, her domestic worker Malti (Smita Tambe) recognizes the doctor as a criminal who is engaged in illegal organ harvesting. When they found out, Shinde threatened them with dire consequences and to keep their mouths shut.Noor also learns of a victim named Vilas (Malti's brother), whose kidney was stolen after Shinde offered him a job at the hospital. She interviews Malti and Vilas, and although they initially refuse to face the camera, after enough persuasion, Malti finally exposes the operation.

Noor takes the testimony to Shekhar, who refuses to entertain any such story. Noor shows the story to Ayan, and then they have sex. Ayan leaves Noor in his hotel room and later Zara tells Noor that Ayan has stolen the story and posted it online under his own name.Noor blames Shekhar for sitting on the story, but instead Shekhar tells Noor that Ayan is a conman. Shekhar rebukes her for her irresponsible behavior and tells her that Malti and Vilas's lives are now in danger. She loses her job and begins to question her profession and its morality. Shekhar is livid at Noor and fires her again.

Noor starts getting death threats and Saad takes her away to London. The pair grow closer, and Saad realizes that he is in love with her.Back in India, police investigation finds Dr Shinde not guilty of any wrongdoing. Saad admits his feelings for Noor. Noor is just digesting this new fact, when Noor gets a call from her father with the news that Vilas is dead.

Noor takes it upon herself to investigate deeper and finds that the Kapadia family was not involved in the scam. Dr Shinde was using the trust as a front to run his organ harvesting business. She delivers the report to Shekhar, who tells Noor that it is brilliant, but refuses to run it. Noor posts the report online. The report goes viral.

Encouraged by the media storm generated, many witnesses come forward and depose against Shinde. Shinde is arrested. Shekhar hires an office for Noor so that she can investigate her own stories and gives her a full-time staff. Saad proposes to Noor. She says yes.
