The lifestyle of people living in the river banks strive to struggle and fight everyday against natural and man-made adversities.

While roaming around the river bank with her younger brother Chhoton, Chhaya finds a man floating aside the river. They take him to their home and provide him treatment. Doctor gives him medicine and tells to take rest. Chhaya's father comes at night and leaves early in the morning. After several day, ailing man leaves the house. Chhaya gets worried and at last finds him nearby river bank. The man tells his name as Ayanuddin. He was a boatman for Fateh Ali who third wife died recently. He is married to Shamsi whom he loved. Shamsi to give him a gift sells her hair to Nazrul. But a neighbor of her take it otherwise considering them having illegal relationship which happened to be reason of Ayan and Shamsi's divorce. Fateh provides solution of this misunderstanding by marrying Shamsi who will be remarried to Ayan.
