Four siblings and their young mother move into a small Tokyo apartment. Despite their mother's wild lifestyle, the family lives in chaotic yet loving harmony. After their mother leaves for a new life in Osaka, the eldest son, 12-year-old Akira, is left to care for his younger siblings with only a small amount of money and a note.
