Zhu Liye is disappointed with her son, Zhanpeng when he fails to get a place in a reputable school. Bao Zhongnan runs a rice dumpling shop and is so short-handed that his wife, A Jiao, and sons Jinlu and Jinfu have to help out. He has a daughter Jinlian who is a typical housewife. Jinlian's husband Zhongxian is an interior designer who has more experience than qualifications. Jinfu's girlfriend Jessica strives to succeed while he indulges in comics. Liye is exhilarated when Jessica introduces her to the principal of a good school. However, Jinlu refuses to 'buy' a place for Zhanpeng.
