Anya, a "difficult teenager", cannot find mutual understanding with others: partly because of her physical flaw, she stutters, partly because of the inattention of loved ones who are busy with their own problems. Fleeing from her aggression, Anya is sent to the village, to her stepfather's relatives. There she meets an old man who takes a lively part in the fate of the girl and contributes to her moral rebirth.
