Synopsis

Jake [James Raftery] was turned by a vampire in 1944 when he was 19 years old. It'snow 1993. Jake is 70 years old, although he still looks 19, and all he hasto show for it is a mattress in an abandoned building in the East Villageand a job as a waiter in a greasy diner. He preys on the villageartsy-farties, the pretty young girls who wannabee dancers, singers, andpoets and who are willing to go home with a good-looking guy they just metin the local bar.

Jake wakes up one evening to radio reports of the day's deaths,murders, suicides, and rapes. He trudges down to the diner for a bite toeat and to work his shift. He's nonplussed when his friend gives him a lectureabout finding a purpose in life so that he'll be somebody when he's in his40s. After work, he has a few beers at the diner, where he hooks up withZohra Santiago [Karen Wexler], an aspiring dancer. They go home together, have a beer,and Jack drains her dry during sex, after which he cleans off her body andstuffs it in a black plastic bag. Unfortunately, Zohra has a brother, andAngel Santiago [John Leguizamo] is determined to find out what happened to her after shedoesn't come home that night. He starts going around the village, showingphotos of Zohra, posting flyers, and asking questions.

Jake is in a funk. He lays on his mattress thinking about the lifeand love he had in the 40s. His friends begin to notice that Jake'sgetting pale and sickly, but he pushes them away because he doesn't wantto prey on them. He meets another girl with whom he seems toshare a rapport, but he winds up drinking from her and chopping up herbody so that she doesn't "come back just like me." Somehow, Angel's searchleads him to Jake. Angel tries to rough up Jake, but Jake overpowers himand drinks his blood, covering over Angel's body with old newspapers as helay dying on the sidewalk. Jake knows that it's time to move on. He giveshis cat to one of his friends and closes up the diner, not knowing thatAngel is lurking in the corner. Angel is now a vampire and is stilllooking for revenge for what Jake did to his sister. [Original synopsis by bj_kuehl.]
