A speechless stranger comes to a poor family tearing by partisan's and government's interests.

Autumn 1945; the government in Estonia has changed. Troubled times have come. Jüri Piir's previously strong household begins to crumble, and he himself finds himself a hostage of circumstances. He does not want to get involved in the political struggle, does not want to take anyone's side. He wants to live as he lived, to work honestly on his land, he wants to protect his family, home, arable land, and livestock from attacks. That's all, but the outside world does not want to tolerate such neutrality from the farmer. Both the "forest brothers" and representatives of the Soviet government encroach on his peace. Both of them are bandits to him, ruining the economy and depriving him of peace. The world has gone crazy and he can't trust anyone.—ETO History Buff
