Summaries

A sailor who is a champion boxer in the Navy is forced to leave the service because his family's business, a tuna fishing operation, is in financial trouble. He becomes a prizefighter and one day signs up for a winner-take-all boxing match, which could make him a lot of money but could also result in the end of his boxing career.[email protected]

Joe Morelli (Tom Neal), boxing champion of the U. S. Navy fleet, is being mustered out, against the wishes of his pals and the Commander. Going home, he finds his father, a fishing-boat operator, in financial difficulties, and his foster-brother endangering parental fortunes with his estrangements of fishing crews and shore associates. Further complications arise, including their rivalry for Lisa (Wendy Waldron), lead to a situation in which Joe unwillingly agrees to fight a professional-boxer in a winner-take-all bout. Adapted from the "Collier's Magazine" story, of the same title, by Talbert Joselyn.—Les Adams <[email protected]>
