This is a partly dramatized documentary that uses archive footage and interviews. In its 8-episodes it depicts the key events of the Russian manned space exploration history. Starting with the development of the Soviet R-7 rocket, versions of which remain the Russian space workhorse to this day. It goes on to tell the story of the first satellite, first man and first woman into space, first spacewalk, the Moon race, key accidents in Soviet space history, Baikonur space launch facility and, finally, Mir space station.
