Launda dancer Basant hides profession from girlfriend Shweta. His dance troupe faces attacks from village head's son Birju. Conflict arises when Shweta discovers Basant's double life, testing their love.

Naach Basanti Naach is the story of Basant, who comes from an ordinary family rooted in age-old traditions. Basant is a 'launda dancer', that is, he performs dressed as a woman on the stage. Basant inherited this occupation from his late father, who also left behind a dance troupe that Basant has to look after. Basanti, the launda avatar of Basant is quite popular and the village Mukhia is Basanti's big admirer. Mukhia's son Birju, however, hates his father's obsession and one night soon after a performance he and his men attack Basant's troupe. Basant's sari gets torn in the ensuing melee, forcing him to visit Fatehpur Bazaar to buy a new saree. There, in the saree shop, Basant meets Shweta, a carefree city girl, and the magic happens. Two fall in love. Basant, however, refrains from revealing his true profession to Shweta for fear of rejection. Will this lead to complications later on? Would Shweta accept him despite his deception? Will their love endure?
