After a successful sabotage that nearly claimed his life in Nazi-occupied Lamia, the courageous Greek-Australian army officer, Nicholas Barbas, seeks shelter in the house of the compassionate Red Cross nurse, Marina Choleva. Almost instantly, amid death and destruction, a romantic affair blooms; however, things will take a turn for the worse when Nicholas is dispatched to Cairo, and as a result, a pregnant Marina winds up in the local Kommandantur. For years, Marina and her little girl have been trying to find Nicholas' whereabouts who is presumed killed in action; but, in vain. Is Barbas truly dead?
