An historical overview of steam boating in general, and the music and musicians that performed on those steamboats. It features interviews with riverlorian Travis Vasconcelos, historian William Kenney, and showboat musician Pat Carr. We also hear from Mark Twain AND we get to see and hear a real calliope, steam and all! Educationally, this video provides some insights into the social as well as historical background of riverboat music, particularly jazz. The end of the video provides the viewer with steamboat-related places to go and people to see on the Ohio River from Pittsburgh to Louisville.—Anonymous
