These days, visitors to the small village of Teahupoo in Tahiti aren't just surfers seeking the thrill of dangerous waves. There's also a murderer, whose MO is inspired by mythical island rituals. When the mutilated body of a man is found at the sacred temple of Polynesian god Oro, local police lieutenant Maeva Umana, a young Tahitian desperate to hide her family pedigree, and veteran captain Philippe Toussaint, newly transferred to the island, are sent to the site.
