Living in Bangkok with her husband Sudhir and the child from his first marriage to her sister, Simran feels isolated in a foreign land and ignored by her husband. A chance meeting with an old flame leads to a renewed and passionate affair until she starts to realise how badly she could be damaging her marriage. The story follows Simran (Mallika Sherawat), a young woman married to Sudhir (Ashmit Patel) a workaholic. They live in Thailand where they settled 5 years ago. Sudhir was previously married to Simran's late elder sister, Sonia. Simran only married Sudhir in order to give motherly love to Sudhir and Sonia's son Kabir (Krish Chawla).Due to her lonely married life, she gets into an affair with her college love, Sunny (Emraan Hashmi), whom she accidentally meets. It was a rainy day and Simran was soaking wet due to not finding a cab. Sunny runs into her on the streets and invites her to his apartment to dry out. At first, she refuses, but then follows Sunny to his apartment. Sunny is a DJ at a local disco.It is revealed that Sunny was in jail for 18 months. Sunny was jailed for assaulting a guy in college who touched Simran the wrong way.Sunny is distraught to find that Simran is now married.
Simran wants to talk to Sudhir about meeting Sunny, but she realizes her mistake when Sudhir addresses her as Sonia. Simran now knows that she means nothing to Sudhir. Sudhir calls her arrogant and selfish.The next day Simran hesitantly calls Sunny, and he calls her for a meeting. They spend the whole day together roaming around Bangkok together.Simran confesses to Sunny how Sonia died when she traveled to Bangalore to attend their dad's new store opening. Earlier Simran was supposed to travel, but Sonia decided to go at the last minute and ended up in a crash which killed her. Simran believes that Sonia's death belonged to Simran. Sunny ends up having sex with Simran.
Simran starts telling lies to Sudhir so as to meet Sunny daily. Nargis (Sheeba Chaddha) is Simran's colleague at office, who covers for her while Simran is with Sunny.She gets so engrossed in their affair that she forgets all her commitments as a wife and mother, and she realizes that it is grossly wrong. When Simran refuses to visit Sunny because her son is sick, Sunny visits her house as a prospective buyer and ends up kissing Simran in the bathroom.
One day Simran forgets to pick up Kabir from school, as she was busy having sex with Sunny.Simran decides to end the affair but, to her surprise, she finds another woman named Radhika with Sunny.Simran then realizes the mistake of sleeping with Sunny just because of unhappy marital life. She laments her unfaithful act.
On the other hand, Sudhir hires a detective. The detective is able to provide Sudhir with pictures of Sunny and Simran having sex and sleeping together. He tells Sudhir that Sunny is a serial womanizer with many former girlfriends.
Simran finds the detective's pictures in Sudhir's laundry and realizes that Sudhir already knows that she cheated on him with Sunny. She burns the photos, lest it be used by police as evidence against Sudhir.The next day, Sunny suddenly goes missing. The police come to their house and inquire about the missing Sunny, on a report registered by his girlfriend Radhika.
Simran gets an idea that it has something to do with Sudhir. It is revealed that when Sudhir went to Sunny to ask him to end the affair, in the heat of the moment, he beat him brutally and buried his dead body.Meanwhile Sunny is receiving blackmail photos of him burying a body in the jungle.
Simran accepts her mistake, supports Sudhir, and even tries to take every risk and blame on herself. This develops and strengthens their love and faith. She asks Sudhir to leave the country with Kabir, but then Sudhir finds out that Simran is being arrested and he comes out of the airport to turn himself in. Kabir is left with Nargis.
With Sunny murdered, she is arrested by the police, and she pleads guilty. Simran claims to Inspector Rajvir Singh (Raj Zutshi) that she stabbed Sunny to death when she went to break up with him and he tried to sexually assault her.
Sudhir claims that it is actually he who has killed Sunny. This confuses the police. Moreover, the dead body is missing from the spot where Sudhir claims to have buried him.Rajvir senses something is wrong in the story and orders a search of Radhika's apartment.
The story takes a U-turn when it is found that this "murder" never took place; rather it was a plot planned by Sunny with the aid of Radhika (Surabhi Vanzara) to separate Simran and Sudhir, so that he could continue his love affair with Simran.Radhika reveals to Rajvir that Sunny was never dead. She had seen Sudhir loading a sack in his car and followed him. When Sudhir left his car unattended, she opened the boot, let Sunny out. They made a plan for Radhika to photograph everything and to dig Sunny out when he was buried by Sudhir.
But only Simran comes to realize this, and she is then trapped by Sunny. She is then rescued by her husband Sudhir who breaks into the house and beats Sunny. Before Sunny is defeated, he tells Sudhir that if he dies, both of them would go to jail, and therefore Sudhir walks away.
Sunny runs up behind Sudhir with a shovel but is then shot at the back by a police officer. The couple reunites with the love developed on the strong foundations of the test of mutual support and understanding to lead a happily married life.
